Port St. Joe is an adorable little beach town with clear salt water and pure white seashells. I first discovered Port St. Joe back in 2008 when we were stationed at a nearby air force base. I immediately fell in love with it.
Cape San Blas is the 17-mile long barrier peninsula boasts sugar-white sand, emerald Gulf water. It also curves around St. Joseph Bay.

1. Spend a day at the Beach
The perfect place to swim, play, and enjoy the sun is in St. Joseph Peninsula State Park in Cape San Blas. Here you will find 9.5 miles of snow-white sand beaches lapped by clear, aqua-blue waters. St. Joseph Peninsula State Park one of the best beaches in the nation. While you are there you may just find a massive sand dollar or catch a breathtaking sunset.
2. Fish
In Gulf County visitors can fish for all kinds of goodies, including sea trout, redfish, flounder, Spanish mackerel, whiting, pompano, blue crabs and bay scallops.
3. Scalloping
Did you know there was such thing as a scallop season? The 2018 season for St. Joseph Bay is August 17th through September 30th.
Scalloping is a fun activity the whole family can participate in. It’s easy for beginners and doesn’t require much more than a saltwater fishing license and a mandatory dive flag. You can snorkel to find them or wade out from the shore, look for the myriad of glowing blue eyes along the edge of their shells, and scoop them up.
4. Shelling

5. Boating
Sailing windsurfing, leisure boating, parasailing and jet skiing are also popular ways to explore the Gulf of Mexico.

Kayaking the through the Dead Lakes is family-friendly and beautiful.
St. Joseph Bay is another great place to kayak, it is filled with turtles, dolphin, fish, seahorses, and more.
6. Horseback Riding
There are several places in the area that offer horseback riding tours. You can horseback ride through the soft sand and even go at night for a moonlight ride.
7. Paddleboarding
There are lots of places in Gulf County to paddleboard. You will find rentals available in Port St. Joe, WindMark Beach, St. Joe Beach, and Cape San Blas. Paddleboarding is easy enough that pretty much anyone can do it.

What better way to unwind on vacation than with some time spent at the spa. Gulf County has a few spas available where you can treat yourself to a massage, facial, and more.
10. Eat Fresh Gulf Seafood
You have to eat seafood during your Gulf County vacation where fresh shrimp, oysters, and Grouper is abundant. Many of the restaurants will even cook whatever fish you may have caught during the day.
11. Eat Donuts

Frank Pate Park has swings and a fun play structure kids will love.
13. Snorkeling
The beaches here tend to be relatively shallow, providing opportunities for epic photos of the reefs and tropical fish.
14. Scuba Diving
For divers, there 463-foot long Empire Mica is a British Tanker sunk by a German sub during World War II, and considered one of Florida’s best wreck dives, at 108 feet deep. There is also another historic shipwreck, The Vamar, resting about 25 feet out.
