Panama City Beach, Florida is a popular destination for many families and there are lots of excellent restaurants to dine at. The kids and I ate like little piggies while we were there for spring break! After eating as much food as possible, here are our favorites.

Here is an overview of what I thought of many Panama City Beach restaurants. I have only included what I think are the best restaurants in Panama City Beach.

Best Brunch in Panama City Beach

Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict at Another Broken Egg

Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict at Another Broken Egg

Another Broken Egg Cafe

This is my favorite restaurant in Panama City Beach and their brunch is unbelievable. All their food is fantastic from the southern cuisine like grits and fried chicken to traditional brunch like eggs benedict or french toast. Their brunch cocktails are amazing too. I highly recommend the Spiked Nutella Latte. If you like to college coffee mugs you should buy one of theirs to take home. I’ve had mine for years now! Located at 11535 Hutchison Blvd, Panama City, FL 32407.

Gypsea Crepes

If you are in the mood for a crepe definitely go to Gypsea Crepes. This is a fun little breakfast joint where they’ve got sweet and savory choices. They have a small menu, but it’s super tasty and it’s easy to have them customize your crepe with things like fresh strawberries, Nutella, peanut butter, and lots of other yummy things. Located at 7012 Thomas Dr, Panama City Beach, FL 32408.

The PancakeryThe Pancakery

Every kind of pancake you could image plus items like avocado toast, omelettes, breakfast burritos and much more. They are also open for lunch. Located at 13800 Panama City Beach Pkwy, Panama City Beach, FL 32413.

Best Milkshakes in Panama City Beach

img 8451Gulf Coast Burger Co.

If you are looking for fried pickles or fried tomatoes the ones here are excellent. The burgers are spendy but so delicious and you can customize them however you like. The best part of eating here is not the hamburgers it’s the milkshakes. They offer huge milkshakes for just $12. These freakshakes are way over the top. 10031 Hutchison Blvd, Panama City Beach, FL 32407.

img 8379The Yard Milkshake Bar

Technically, this is only a milkshake place, but their milkshakes are phenomenal. They top their milkshakes with stuff like slices of cheesecake. My kids told me these were the best shakes they’ve ever had and at this point, they are basically experts. 15801 L C Hilton Jr Dr, Panama City Beach, FL 32413

Best Donuts in Panama City Beach

Thomas Donut

Eating Thomas Donuts in the 2019 Kia Sorento

Thomas Donut

For the best donuts in Panama City Beach, head to Thomas Donut. It’s a bit out of the way out on the west side of town, but it’s more than worth venturing over there. Not only are they delicious, but they are cheap too. Every day they offer a special donut of the day. In the photo above I am holding the “donut of the day” in the picture above, it is an apple caramel pie donut and it was the best donut I have ever had! If you are craving fresh donuts this is the place. Located at 19208 Front Beach Rd, Panama City Beach, FL 32413.

5 Restaurants with the best views in Panama City Beach

img 8554Schooners

Schooners last local beach club has good food and an even better view. We like to hang out on the beach near here since it is a public beach, then when we get hungry we hit Schooners. It’s mainly fried food, but they do offer this jerk chicken plate for a healthier option. Beer lovers be sure to try the Grayton 30A Beach Blonde. They also have their own interesting twist on a Moscow Mule, sadly I cannot recall what they call it. It has vanilla vodka. 5121 Gulf Dr, Panama City, FL 32408.

Pelican’s Bar & Grill

img 8594

Pelican’s is a seasonal restaurant at Bluegreen’s Bayside Resort & Spa. It’s located out on their awesome dock. They offer a small menu, but the cocktails are fantastic and the food is good too. The sunset views are phenomenal. 4114 Jan Cooley Dr, Panama City, FL 32408.

Pompano Joe’s

Pompano Joe’s

Pompano Joe’s is one of the larger restaurants at Pier Park. Try to dine here during the daylight to enjoy gulf views. Located at Pier Park. 16202 Front Beach Rd, Panama City Beach, FL 32413.

Pineapple Willeys

This place is extremely kid-friendly. Huge deck with tons of outdoor seating with a beautiful gulf view. Great food, fantastic prices. You can eat alligator tail here which is apparently on many people’s bucket lists. Located at 9875 South Thomas Drive, Panama City Beach, Florida 32408.

Margaritaville

Sometimes there can be a long wait to eat here. The food is great, but it is expensive. The kid meals were the most expensive I have seen at 7.95. Located at Pier Park.

Best Seafood in Panama City Beach

Oysters at the Grand Marlin

Oysters at the Grand Marlin

The Grand Marlin

I took my kids to The Grand Marlin for a fancier dinner while we were in Panama City Beach. I made all of them try the baked oysters, they are so good! The Grand Marlin also has beautiful views of the Grand Lagoon. Their martini selection is excellent. I recommend making a reservation, it was extremely busy the night we dined here. The Grand Marlin is located at 5323 N. Lagoon Dr., Panama City, Florida 32408.

Saltwater Grill

I’ve heard this place is amazing. I haven’t tried it myself but after the 10th person recommended it for having the best fish, I thought I better put it on this list! It’s located at 11040 Hutchison Boulevard, Panama City Beach, Florida 32407.

Mike’s Cafe and Oyster Bar

Mike’s Cafe has a lot going on. It’s a down-home diner and seafood restaurant wrapped into one great place to eat. Located at 17554 Front Beach Road, Panama City Beach, FL 32413

Best Sandwich Shops in Panama City Beach

Andy’s Flour Power Cafe and Bakery

We picked up sandwiches and salads to go from Andy’s Flour Power Cafe and Bakery and took them out to Shell Island for a beach picnic. The sandwiches were huge and the strawberry salad was absolutely wonderful. They are open for brunch and lunch. I almost put this cafe under breakfast because they’ve got the best breakfast sandwich in town! 2629 Thomas Dr, Panama City, FL 32408.

Liza’s

Liza's Sandwich Shop

Liza’s is a small sandwich shop. They make great hot and cold sandwiches. 7328 Thomas Drive, Suite L, Panama City Beach, FL 32408.

Best Cajun food in Panama City Beach

Dee’s Hangout

Dee’s Hangout has good Cajun food. We had a nice dinner here one night and everything we tried was good including the Orlean- style gumbo. 529 N Richard Jackson Boulevard, Panama City Beach, Florida 32407.

Dat Cajun Place

According to the locals I ate at the wrong Cajun food restaurant. For the best Cajun food in town eat here. They have happy hour every day and live music every day. 8501 Thomas Dr, Panama City Beach, Florida 32408.

Good food, good prices. Great local place. Great oysters! 1150 Beck Avenue Panama City, Florida.

They have the best appetizer ever, Bang Bang shrimp. Great food. Little pricey. It is family-friendly, but even better for a date night. Unfortunately, they closed the location in Panama City Beach, but the one in Panama City is still open. 641 West 23rd Street, Panama City, Florida 32405.

8 Best Hotels in Miami for Families https://www.mommytravels.net/8-best-hotels-in-miami-for-families/ Sat, 25 Nov 2023 10:40:07 +0000 https://www.mommytravels.net/?p=44212 Miami is known not only for its beautiful beach clubs, vibrant culture, and exciting nightlife for grown-ups but also for being an excellent destination for family vacations.

Although the city can easily be considered a destination best suited for adults, as it is a vibrant city with famous shopping and nightlife (clearly perfect for girls’ trips), beach bars, art, and culture, this is not entirely the case!

One of the first and very important things you need to decide to create the optimal family trip to Miami is finding the perfect accommodation that suits everyone.

Here is a selection of the best family hotels for a trip to Miami, including some that are particularly great for families with kids!

Family-friendly hotel requirementsMiami Beach activity area

For a family hotel stay with breakfast options in-house, pools, and typical hotel amenities, your best options are large family guest rooms with two double beds or one master bedroom with a queen or king-size bed and a sofa bed. Or one of the largest suites!

Another great option for wonderful family holidays is to book an apartment or a condo. This does not have to be VRBO (but it can be), as many of the traditional booking apps also offer homestays, which have a range of positive factors for families on vacation.

So, what do we need to consider when recommending holiday accommodation for families?

Important hotel and property amenities for families on holiday. Miami

According to traveler reviews, this is the list of features and amenities that families really love about their accommodation to have a perfect family holiday.

  • A full kitchen
  • Spacious living quarters
  • Outdoor space
  • Washer and dryer
  • Close to playground or waterpark
  • TV and Internet
  • Babysitting service
  • Walking distance to the beach and popular activities

So, when researching the best accommodation for a Miami family holiday, I have looked for hotels and properties that provide as many of these as possible.

Having a full kitchen and spacious property also allows for a peaceful and slow start to the day with breakfast at home instead of rushing out to find something to eat with hungry kids. And if you wonder about the washer and dryer, it is because kids get messy

So let us jump in; these top-rated hotels and accommodations are optimal options for families traveling to Miami!

Family Hotels in North Miami

1. JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa

JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & SpaMid-Range Option (link above not affiliate link)

#Rated 8.4/10. Families love it for the kid’s pool, water park, water slides, outdoor space, and babysitting.

Situated a bit north of Downtown Miami and the highest highrise area of Miami, you find this hotel gem in Golden Beach, which is probably the best hotel for families ever in Miami-Dade County.

Why?

The biggest and best argument is that they have an entire water park directly connected to the hotel!

Staying at the JW Marriott Turnberry in northern Miami is like staying in a theme park, but where there is also lots of fun for the adults and high-quality service and amenities.

Quality, standard, elegance, and service have not been disrupted by the fact that this hotel has childish fun in focus, at least in the daytime.

JW Marriot has an incredible water park with slides, large outdoor space, a kid’s pool (there are a total of 5 outdoor swimming pools), surfing and bodyboarding, bicycle rental, and a lazy river that is perfect for kids of any age! At the Marriot, you don’t need to go anywhere to have fun for the whole family together.

For the grown-ups, there is a full-service spa where you can completely unwind and regain your energy. Find your zen with yoga, pilates, or fitness classes. There is also a sauna, spa tub, steam room, 36 holes of golf, and a golf driving range (and lessons available).

At night, choose between a sizzling Bourbon Steakhouse dinner, chill poolside dining at Cascata, or two other in-house restaurants. The dining options at the Marriot will keep everyone happy, and you can also go bar-hopping between 5 bars when the kids have fallen asleep (did I mention they have babysitters?) and a poolside bar for the quiet adult moment.

The Biltmore Hotel in Clark GablesBiltmore Hotel in Clark Gables

Mid-range to luxury option

#Rated 8.5/10. Families love it for its vast outdoor space and pools, waterpark nearby,

The venerable Biltmore Hotel, situated in Clark Gables, is a living legend as far as hotels go and is in a league of its own in this overview of great family hotels in Miami.

The hotel lies like a castle a little bit south of Miami in an incredible green outdoor area and gardens, perfect for leisure and outdoor activities for the whole family. Although it is not exactly walking distance from the beach, a short drive from the city – and this hotel still has a lot to offer within the hotel property!

The Biltmore has one of the largest hotel pools in the whole of the US, where you can lounge around for hours, as well as tennis courts, a gym, and a wellness department.

Minutes away, you can leave all worries behind and spend a day at the 18-hole, 71-par championship golf course that was designed in 1925 by legendary golf course architect Donald Ross.

Biltmore Amenities:

  • Huge outdoor pool and general recreational area
  • Spectacular surroundings
  • Gym and fitness center
  • Spa and wellness center
  • Onsite tennis and cycling
  • Golf course nearby
  • The Venetian Pools Water Park is nearby
  • Wifi
  • Onsite organized activities like cooking classes

You can have a lot of family fun without stressing about leaving the hotel. With three onsite restaurants, bars, an offer of classic English afternoon tea, and excellent in-room dining, your palate will not be bored!

The rooms are elegant with super amenities; the decor is lush and very far from a modern Scandinavian style. The only downside is that the family rooms have two large double beds and not a lot of space outside of the bed area without a separate bedroom.

If you upgrade to a suite, you will have that little extra space with a sofa and TV zone with a lounge to relax between adventures. But maybe that does not even matter, as there is almost infinite space to roam around at the Biltmore anyway.

The Biltmore is very close to the Venetian pools, Riviera Country Club by the golf course, and about a 25-minute drive from Downtown Miami.

What Is A Good Family Holiday Stay in Miami?

When it comes to choosing the right hotel for your family, there are certain things that you should look for to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Here are some key factors that will make your family vacation perfect so you can focus on adventures and quality time and not on issues with the accommodation.

  • Spacious Accommodations: Families need more space than the average traveler, so it’s essential to choose a hotel that offers spacious rooms or suites or outdoor space to accommodate everyone comfortably.
  • Family-Friendly Amenities: A good family hotel or property should provide amenities that cater to the needs of both children and adults. This can include things like a pool, kids’ club, playground, on-site restaurants with child-friendly menus, as well as a spa, a gym, and lounges.
  • In-house washer and dryer and a kitchen on-site, making a family holiday with kids so much easier! Breakfast at home in peace and quiet before you start exploring the city
  • Convenient Location: Choosing a hotel in a central location (tailored to what you want to do in Miami) will make it easier for your family to explore the city’s top attractions without having to travel too far. Stay in a place where you have walking distance to at least a handful of activities without having to get the car out or get a taxi.
  • Safety and Security is top-notch: As a parent, the safety and security of your family is a top priority. Look for hotels that have measures in place to ensure the well-being of their guests, such as 24/7 security and CCTV cameras.
  • Affordable Prices: Family vacations can be expensive, so it’s essential to have reasonably priced options that won’t break the bank. In this article, I have featured both luxury options and budget property versions for a family holiday to cater to any need or preference.

Why Choose Miami for Your Next Family Vacation?

The resort is situated on a sprawling property on the beach. The resort offers a serene, cozy, and luxurious ambiance, with its exclusive location making it a prime attraction for tourists.

AccommodationsHilton Sandestin Room

The resort features 590 guest rooms, including 2 presidential suites with a wide variety of amenities suitable for all your needs. The guest rooms feature luxury furnishings, high-quality bedding, and marble bathrooms. And, all the rooms offer a balcony with a great view of the beach that can help you relax and unwind after a busy day as well as a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker.

Every room in the Emerald Tower includes a set of bunk beds as seen in the photo above. I recommend that tower for families. Both towers include double vanities, one in the room and one in the bathroom which is very helpful when getting ready.

Amenities and ActivitiesHilton Sandestin Resort Amenities

Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort & Spa features several on-site amenities for relaxation and activities, including restaurants, multiple pools (all of which allow kids), hot tubs, a fitness center, luxurious spa treatments, and an award-winning golf course nearby. Moreover, the resort offers a variety of recreational activities, like beach volleyball. Some of my favorite amenities were:

Beach Service: For a fee. you could get two chairs and an umbrella set up for you down on the beach. After 1 PM the price is lower. The beach here is powder white and so soft. You will definitely want to spend some time here.

You can also rent a standup paddleboard or a kayak for a fee. (must be at least 14 years old)

Beach Services at Hilton Sandestin

Beach Bonfire: Also, for a fee, you could have a beach bonfire at sunset. It’s a lovely experience and I highly recommend it. The sunset quickly, so I recommend planning your bonfire for at least 30 minutes before sunset if not an hour before.

Multiple Pools: Two outdoor pools, one indoor pool, and a small toddler pool.

Whirlpools: One outdoor hot tub and one indoor hot tub. The best part is the outdoor hot tub is open until 11 PM so after a long day its the perfect way to unwind.

Air Compressor: They have an air compressor next to the towel stand where you can quickly inflate your pool floaties. This is also where they bring left-behind floaties that you can then grab and use complementary. I saw floaties and boogie boards here that were left behind.

Theater: On rainy days they will play a movie for families to water.

Free Shuttle: They have a free shuttle that will take you over to Baytowne Wharf. Depending on which way it drives it will take between 15 – 25 minutes one way.

Fitness Center at Hilton Sandestin

Fitness Center: The fitness center had fairly new equipment including 3 Peletons. There was row machine, treadmills, and elliptical machines. There were some hand weights as well has some lifting machines. I felt like I was able to get a great workout in.

Yoga Classes: They have yoga classes on Monday and Wednesday and pilates classes on Tuesday and Thursday.

Electric Car Chargers: They do have a few car chargers in the parking garage for electric or hybrid cars.

Laundry: They have a small laundry room where you can do your laundry if needed. The machines take credit cards.

Gift Shop: There is a large gift shop on the property where they sell flip-flops, skim boards, boogie boards, and much more.

SpaHilton Sandestin Resort Spa

The spa is fabulous. It has a sauna, steam room, and hot tub that you can use when you get a service. You can ask for the eucalyptus spray for the sauna or steam room. Sadly, I didn’t realize this until I had already used them. Their massages are excellent. I experienced a relaxation massage which I was worried would be too light of pressure but it was perfect.

Dining ExperienceFood at Hilton Sandestin

Food lovers will enjoy the variety of dining options available at Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort & Spa. The resort offers multiple restaurants that will treat your taste buds to a sensory experience.

Seagar’s Prime Steaks & SeafoodSeagars Steakhouse

Seagars is a 25-year-old steakhouse and the only 4-star restaurant in the area. They boost more than 600 labels of wine and are well known for their martinis with olives stuffed with blue cheese. They do several tableside items like bananas foster, steak Diane, and Caesar salad. I had the NY strip with butter and peppercorn and it was the best steak I’ve ever had.

There is a dress code, so leave the flip-flops back in your room. You will want to check the dress code ahead of time and make a reservation in advance.

Hadashi Sushi Bar

They have sushi, but they also have pizza! I went with the pulled pork BBQ pizza and it was delicious. Their friend Buffalo cauliflower was also great.

Barefoot’s Beachside Bar and GrillBarefoot’s Beachside Bar and Grill

Here is a huge bar where you can hang out and enjoy the views with a drink. The most popular cocktail is their Rum Jungle which is great, but I thought the pineapple mai tai was fantastic. They serve foot too. I had tried both of their wraps, the chicken salad wrap and the firecracker shrimp wrap. Both were excellent. Their friends are great but if you like mustard potato salad skip the one here, it’s too bland.

Sandcastle’s Restaurant Breakfast Buffet

The breakfast buffet has an omelet station where they will make you a custom omelet or you can have eggs made how you like them. They also had fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy, pastries, and more.

Coffee Shop

The coffee shop serves Starbucks coffee and freshly made pastries each day. I visited at least once a day and each time the pastries varied. If you are looking for a low-calorie drink to order try the low-fat cappuccino. In addition to pastries, they have breakfast sandwiches and wraps that are quite tasty.

Picnix Poolside Market

There is a grab-and-go market next to the pool with ice cream, sandwiches, wraps, pizza, and drinks. You can then take your items back to your room, down to the beach, or poolside to enjoy.

Room Service

Room service is available but sadly, I didn’t try it, so I can’t comment on it.

Unlimited Refillable Mug: You can get a large refillable mug for $25. Any restaurant in the resort will refill it with non-alcoholic beverages like soda, tea, and water.

Conclusion

Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort & Spa is one of the top beachfront resorts in Florida and one of the most sought-after locations in Miramar Beach. With its serene atmosphere, family-friendly amenities, stunning location, and comfortable accommodations, it is definitely the perfect destination for tourists, Floridians, and beach lovers of all ages. So, if you want to immerse yourself in a pampered vacation in Florida, Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort & Spa is waiting for you!

Florida’s Natural Wonders: Exploring the Magnificent Trio of Ginnie Springs, Everglades, and Crystal River https://www.mommytravels.net/floridas-natural-wonders-exploring-the-magnificent-trio-of-ginnie-springs-everglades-and-crystal-river/ Fri, 30 Jun 2023 01:49:19 +0000 https://www.mommytravels.net/?p=41104 It’s widely known that Florida is brimming with attractions that showcase the state’s spectacular natural splendor. This great position adds to its humid subtropical climate, making it a beautiful natural marvel with unique attractions, species, plants, and ecosystems.

Few places can compete with Florida’s natural splendor, and entertaining, one-of-a-kind excursions are always assured. The Sunshine State is full of magnificent treasures and different landscapes just waiting for travelers to discover, from white sand beaches to hidden tunnels. Discover some of Florida’s greatest natural treasures from the pristine Crystal River to the breathtaking Everglades!

Florida Travel Tips:

Florida is great for visiting any time of the year. However, each season can impact certain aspects. Remember to choose dates carefully to avoid large crowds and hot weather. This is usually months from June to September.

In these months, temperatures can reach up to 95° F, which can be very difficult to explore the Florids’ natural beauties. Also, the kids are on summer break, and everyone’s on vacation, which means it will be filled with the crowd.

Try to avoid these peak months by planning a trip to Florida from mid-September to November. The streets will be much less crowded, there will be lower rates, and your trip will be stress-free.

With that in mind, let’s explore the hidden gems of Florida’s land.

Ginnie SpringsGinnie Springs

If you are a fan of crystal blue water and breathtaking nature, Ginnie Springs is for you. This natural spring is the essence of Florida’s beauty and is home to some of the state’s most beautiful water. It is one of Florida’s hidden gems. Aside from resting your eyes on this beautiful view, you can go freely in the water and swim. The water itself is very clean; you can literally see anything underneath your feet with a beautiful blue tint.

Ginnie Springs do not belong to the state. It is a private property that connects to the Santa Fe River. So, as you would guess, you need to pay some fees for daily entry. The rates usually range between $15 and $20.

But, this is only for visiting. There’s an additional fee if you want to explore more, like cave diving, conventional diving, and other activities. If you decide to go on such an adventure, know that its 72-degree water temperature is ideal for those activities. You couldn’t ask for a better place for river tubing, swimming, snorkeling, cave, and scuba diving.

If you do not want to explore the underwater world, you can go camping or do other activities in the surrounding region. The beauty of Ginnie Springs is that it has something for everyone.

Crystal RiverCrystal River State Park

Once you finish exploring Ginnie Springs, just an hour-and-a-half drive, is a low-key retreat destination. It is one of the state’s most pure and picturesque areas. The Crystal River is full of greenery that will make you want to stay there forever.

It is also one of the few spots on the earth where you can swim with manatees legally. The river is supplied by a spring that maintains a consistent temperature of 72°F, which is why manatees spend their winters here.

You can observe manatees in their native environment, and the best time of year to do so is between December and February. However, travelers may see a few in March and April as well.

Aside from visiting these adorable creatures, don’t forget to explore the Crystal Rivers’s other well-known springs, such as

  • Three Sisters,
  • Hunter,
  • House,
  • Jurassic,
  • Kings and so on.

If you plan to do so, I recommend you to visit it in the early morning when the water is quiet and there are fewer boats. While you are there, go and check out the lesser-known springs, which might be even more peaceful and relaxing.

Since there are many springs to visit, this route can be challenging. Especially for walking or if you have little kids. I advise you to consider renting a car to make it easier for you to experience as much as you can.

This is because there are around 70 springs within Kings Bay’s boundaries, each unique and perfect in its own way. Since 70 is a significant number, you can go and ask locals about their favorites. Let’s be honest; this advice can be much more valuable than the advice found on the Internet.

Evergladeseverglades

The Everglades, America’s greatest tropical wilderness, covers over 1 million acres. It is internationally recognized for its extraordinary biodiversity and ecological features. This network of stunning habitats, including forests and wetlands, is located on the southern end of Florida’s peninsula. It is also home to unusual plants and fauna, including alligators and panthers.

Because of the mild winters that bring the greatest diversity of wading birds and their predators, the dry season is also the busiest season. Wet season is wet and might result in a large number of mosquitoes. Many ranger-led programs are not available due to low traffic during the wet summer season, but other guided tour choices abound.

The first choice you must make while visiting the Everglades is which entrance to use. There are three entrances, and they are all hours apart. If you want to see the heart of the Everglades, you should enter either Shark Valley near Miami or the Main Entrance of the Park in Homestead. If you want to visit the Gulf Coast, you should take a boat trip from Everglades City.

Wild Florida airboat

Airboat trips are the most common way to see the Everglades, and there are plenty to choose from. These airboat trips transport tourists to the wetlands, where they can learn about the park’s distinct ecosystems.

Home of Chokoloskee

The Everglades is home to Everglades City and Chokoloskee, one of Florida’s hidden gems. The majority of Everglades tourists merely scratch the surface. Few visitors make it to Everglades City, and just a small percentage of those cross the bridge to Chokoloskee.

Visit Chokoloskee and dine at Havana Cafe, which serves one of Florida’s greatest grouper sandwiches. You can also go to the Smallwood Store or take an Everglades eco-boat tour.

When you are around, don’t forget to visit the Museum of the Everglades located in Everglades City. It is one of numerous historic structures that remain as a reminder of the town’s past. The museum’s permanent and rotating displays provide visitors with an in-depth look at the area’s almost 2,000-year human history.

But, you should not stop there. There are many other fun activities available in the Everglades. There is a lot of wildlife, including turtles, herons, and alligators, that you may observe if you take a little stroll along the Anhinga Trail. Get a birds-eye perspective of the glades by ascending Shark Valley’s 65-foot observation tower

Take a tour boat or kayak across Florida Bay for a chance to spot a dolphin, manatee, or crocodile. Watch the sun set over Flamingo, the peninsula of Florida’s southernmost tip. Also,  if you are a die-hard fan of adventures, ride a bike through the pinelands, or kayak through the mangroves on Nine-Mile Pond. You can also get on a week-long canoe trip across the 99-mile Wilderness Waterway. There are endless possibilities available. You just have to choose. Or, try all of them!

Conclusion

These three natural wonders, which range from lovely freshwater springs to some of the most magnificent wetlands, will change the way you view Florida. Whether you’re river tubing in Ginnie Springs, swimming with manatees in Crystal River or touring the Everglades, it will undoubtedly be an amazing experience. Florida is brimming with breathtaking riches and diverse landscapes that are just waiting for tourists to discover.

Best Time to Visit Florida

Florida is a well-liked vacation spot that provides a range of events and attractions all year round. The ideal time to travel to Florida, however, mostly relies on individual preferences and interests.

Florida’s busiest travel months are December through April when the climate is temperate and pleasant and perfect for outdoor activities. Numerous celebrations and events, like the Art Basel Miami Beach, the Gasparilla Pirate Festival in Tampa, and the Florida Renaissance Festival in Deerfield Beach, take place around this time. However, this season is also the most expensive and busy, so it’s crucial to reserve lodging and activities in advance.

Another popular season to travel to Florida is during the summer, from June through August. Despite the hot and muggy weather, there are many indoor attractions and activities available, including water parks and museums. This is also a popular time to visit the beaches, but tourists should be prepared for crowds and warmer weather.

May and September to November are wonderful dates to visit Florida if you want to escape the crowds and save some money. Still warm and bright, but with fewer tourists, travelers can take advantage of more reasonably priced lodging and attractions. However, it’s crucial to remember that Florida’s hurricane season lasts from June to November, so visitors should be ready for any storms and make plans accordingly.

Weekend in Miami a 3 Day Itinerary https://www.mommytravels.net/weekend-in-miami-3-day-itinerary/ Thu, 02 Feb 2023 12:06:21 +0000 https://www.mommytravels.net/?p=38402 Traveling to colorful places is always a great idea to relax and learn more about the different cultures of the world. But where can you go to experience Latin motifs and experience the relaxed vibe of the city and its inhabitants? We’ll say that, unequivocally the best place in Miami.

If you’re planning to go for a little weekend getaway, you should think it through so that you get to know the city best you can. We’ve got a concept of a mini guide on how to spend 3 days in Miami and enjoy an unforgettable trip. Let’s learn more about it.

How to spend 3 days in Miami?Miami Weekend Getaway a 3 day itinerary

And so, we have prepared a cool option to get to know the city and its features in 3 days of travel. You can lie on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, stroll the bustling streets, and see the town in the palm of your hand while looking at it from the water. We’re sure this program will give you a chance to experience the essence of this sunny piece of the USA.

Day 1: Beach vacation

On your first day, you should visit the main attraction of the city, of course, the ocean. Head to Miami Beach first thing in the morning to get the best seats by the azure water. You can also go to different parts of the beach by taking a free transfer ride around the coast. It’s surprisingly easy getting around Miami.

There are several beaches in total:

  • South Beach;
  • Ball Harbor;
  • Mid-Beach;
  • Haulover;
  • Crandon Park;
  • Oleta River;
  • Lummus Park Beach;
  • North Shore Park;
  • South Pointe Park;
  • Sunny Isles Beach;
  • Surfside Beach.

We especially recommend going to South Beach, you can relax, and once you leave it, you’ll get to the lively streets with various food courts and stores.

If you are an adventurous person, you can find a place for surfing, saps, and other water activities on any beach. So you can be at the seaside all day without worrying about getting bored just sunbathing.

Day 2: Outdoor adventure

After lounging on the beach for the first day, it’s time to walk the streets of the city and take in the coolest sights.

In the morning, head to the Everglades National Park to experience real wildlife and its inhabitants. This is the best time, it isn’t hot to walk early in the day and there’s a good chance of getting to know the park’s inhabitants. Take a boat ride that takes you to a secluded corner that reveals a deserted world and animals in their natural habitat.

After the walk, cool off at John Pennekamp State Park. Here you can look at the underwater world and coral reefs. There are 2 ways to do this:

  • Take a trip on a boat with a clear bottom;
  • Go snorkeling.

In the evening, we recommend heading to downtown Miami, because this is when the special life of bright lights begins. Walking around the center, you can notice many tattoo parlors. It’s a great idea to remember a great weekend by getting themed body art. Check out the list of the best tattoo artists in Miami and make yourself a memorable gift. This keepsake for yourself will surely remind you of the wonderful 3 days here. Miami

Visit Little Havana for a taste of Cuban culture while watching the population dance hotly to rhythmic music. There are also many cafés with Latin American cuisine, which will open you up to new flavors and combinations. And if you want to learn more about history, then in the same area you can find various art and research museums where you can learn all about this culture and city.

Day 3: Walk by the sea and say goodbye3 Days in Miami

On your last day, you can stroll through the stores in the main streets or even walk around the whole promenade, looking at the coast and the high-rises that are a few meters away. Wander the less busy streets to observe how people live here. Enjoy a relaxed vibe with the locals, learning even more about the culture and Miami.

Closer to sunset, go to The Wharf Miami for a special atmosphere. It’s a place where you can relax with a few cocktails and dance by the shore. There are also yachts on the pier that you can rent and watch the beauty of the city at nightfall. It’s best to come here in large groups for more fun. However, if you come alone or with a significant other, you can always meet interesting people right there.

Where to eat during the day?Miami Itinerary

You can always find something to eat, especially when walking through the busy main streets of the city. There are plenty of restaurants, food courts, and a variety of cuisines to suit all tastes. We can recommend a few special places to eat:

  • Lobster Bar Sea Grille. A place with fresh lobsters, squids, and other seafood delicacies that are cooked before your eyes.
  • CVI.CHE 105. Particular colorful restaurant of Peruvian and Pan-Latin American cuisine, where the main dish is ceviche.
  • Grafa Pizza & Pasta. For lovers of Italian cuisine, this will be a separate pleasure, because it serves the most delicious pizza and pasta in the entire city.

Where to stay for the night?

Miami welcomes and accommodates guests at the highest level. Any place to stay will be cozy and with its twist. Hotels and hostels in different price ranges are mostly located in the central part of the city and on the coast. The price for a hostel for 2 nights for two people costs $90, and the hotel accommodation with the same conditions on average is $500.

We recommend staying at the Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel located in the heart of South Beach’s Art Deco District on historic Collins Avenue. The Surfcomber is one of the area’s chicest hotels. The property offers direct beach access with relaxing lounge beds, a beautifully designed resort-style pool, and newly renovated private poolside cabanas for some well-deserved family bonding.

While the beach is lovely to visit, you probably don’t want it to be the only thing you do — there must be trails to hike, wildlife to see, shops to visit, and more!

Luckily for you, there is more to Sarasota than just the beach — the area is home to a diverse number of outdoor activities you must check out in between beach visits (we will recommend the perfect one for that)! The next time you visit Sarasota, check out this lineup of the best things to do.

The Best Things to Do & See in Sarasota

Kayak through the Mangrovesmangrove kayaking

The Mangroves are a unique and vital habitat — they provide protection and food for a diversity of marine species and help keep the water clean by filtering it through their intricate root systems. If you love nature, this is a must-do activity.

There are a couple of places within easy reach of Sarasota where you can kayak.

One of the most popular points is off South Lido Key but be warned, popularity isn’t good for everyone. The increased traffic in the mangroves (and nearby construction) has caused much of the wildlife to hightail out of there. So, it’s unlikely you will see the diversity of wildlife you want, and you will have a lot of kayak traffic to navigate.

A better option is to kayak off Emerson Point, located in Palmetto, just 45 minutes north of Sarasota. This spot is a quiet little gem! Desoto Kayak Tours is one of the few companies operating from this point. They also keep the groups small and don’t operate daily to give the wildlife a break. It’s a great tour to catch dolphins, manatees (if you’re lucky!), and a variety of birds like the Osprey and the Great Blue Heron. kayaking emerson point

If you choose Emerson Point, after the kayak tour, stick around Emerson Point and wander a few of their trails; the best one is Terra Ceia (it’s right by the kayak launch). It’s only two miles out and back and snakes next to the mangrove and the shoreline. On a clear day, you can see right across the bay to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge connecting into St. Petersburg. After exploring Emerson Point, consider checking out the plant-based dining scene in Tampa or St. Petersburg. Both cities are nearby and have diverse options.

Visit Marie Selby Botanical Gardensorchid at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

This 15-acre oasis (the downtown gardens are 15 acres, but there is also a second garden located at historic Spanish Point) is home to various gardens and habitats, including tropical, native Florida, and desert plants. The gardens are most well known for having one of the world’s best collections of orchids and bromeliads! Aside from being a gorgeous spot to wander, it is also very family-friendly to engage kids of all ages with multiple play areas, including an area with swinging bridges. If you’re interested in learning more about the plants you encounter, consider grabbing an audio guide to learn more as you wander.Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

Try to find manatees (seasonal)

Seeing these gentle giants swimming in the wild is such a fantastic experience. The best time of year to catch a glimpse of these guys in the water is November through April as they come in closer to the coast in search of warmer waters (fun fact, manatees need water that is no colder than 68 degrees Fahrenheit — they may look like they have plenty of fat to keep them warm, it’s actually not fat! Their size is in part due to the size of their lungs)! There are a couple of spots close to Sarasota to try and catch them, and one a little farther away:

Kayaking off Emerson Point Preserve. Another good reason to go kayaking! The bay is shallow, allowing for the growth of seagrass — a favorite manatee food! Desoto Tours shared that they generally catch the manatees in the area from March – December.

Visiting the sanctuary at Tampa Electric. Just outside of Tampa, the electric power station discharges warm, clean water into the bay, creating a manatee haven. For years manatees have sought shelter from the cold (and boats) in the discharge canal next to the power station. The waters surrounding the station are an official sanctuary for the manatees. There are multiple viewing platforms where you can watch from above in hopes of seeing a manatee pop out of the water!Tampa Electric manatee sanctuary

Visiting Crystal River. The clear waters make this an optimal spot to see the sea cows hanging out, but there is a caveat. This area has become incredibly popular; they even sell swimming experiences with the manatees. I disagree with that — although they seem not to mind a handful of people or some kayaks, hundreds of people clogging up their waterway, splashing, and yelling seems to be a new form of pollution for them. They don’t need that. If you go, try and catch them from above without disrupting their home, you’re a visitor, after all.

It can be challenging to catch a glimpse of these gentle giants because, sadly, there are only approximately 6,000 in the Florida waters — humans and boats are their biggest predators.

Say hey to alligators at Myakka State Parkalligator at Myakka State Park

Have you ever seen an alligator in the wild? I hadn’t until I visited Myakka, one of Florida’s oldest and largest state parks. It is home to over 40 miles of hiking trails, 500 – 1000 gators, countless wild boar, and a wide variety of fun birds (Spoonbills, Egrets, Bald Eagles, Osprey, and more!).

If you’re interested in exploring the park on foot, there are plenty of trails to explore. Don’t miss The William Boylston Nature Trail and canopy walk (near the park entrance). The trail is less than a mile but includes a self-guided interpretive walk sharing information about the wildlife and ecology of the native environment. The canopy walk takes you up 74 feet above the palms to get a birds-eye view of the park — a neat way to appreciate the surroundings. canopy walk Myakka State Park

If you’d like more of a guided tour, consider hopping on one of the daily boat tours into Upper Myakka Lake. It’s a great way to see much of the park’s wildlife and learn more about its history. The tours run at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm and last about an hour. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for kids; they must be purchased onsite.

Relax at Siesta Key or Lido Beach siesta key beach entrance

For all you beach lovers out there, you can’t miss these two spots!

These two beaches are fan favorites — Siesta Key Beach has even been rated one of the best beaches in the US multiple times! And, once you step on the incredibly soft white sands, you will understand why. Even though it’s an incredibly popular spot, the beach itself is huge, so there is plenty of room to spread out, but that’s not the same for parking. If you need to park onsite, plan to arrive by 10 am to nab a spot. Aside from taking a cat nap under an umbrella, beachgoers can enjoy the sand volleyball courts or grab a bite to eat or a daiquiri at the onsite snack shack. If you’re looking for more snack, breakfast, or lunch options, check out Nutritious You, which is right by Siesta Key. They are one of the best spots for vegan and gluten-free eats in Sarasota.

Just north of Siesta Key Beach is another excellent beach spot that tends to be quieter, Lido Key Beach. It’s equally as beautiful as Siesta Key! This is the perfect spot to go with family or if you just want to get away from loads of people. There aren’t any special amenities here, and the parking area is small; your best bet is to park on the street for free!

Shop till you drop!downtown sarasota art gallery

Downtown Sarasota has an eclectic mix of boutiques that are worth checking out. For art buffs, don’t miss Gallery Row on Palm Avenue, which is home to many beautiful art galleries — you can find everything from watercolor paintings to sculptures. Aside from art, you’ll also find antique shops, clothing boutiques, and a mix of dining options.downtown sarasota theatre

If you’re interested in finding great deals, don’t miss The Ellenton Premium Outlets. You’ll find everything — sunglasses, apparel, shoes, and more. The Outlets are located just 30 minutes from downtown Sarasota.

Hotel Recommendation

We recommend staying out at the beach at Long Boat Key Club and Resort. The rooms are ideal for families. They have little kitchenettes so you can cook stuff or just reheat leftovers. The beach here is lovely and they have beach service. They will set up your chairs, umbrellas and bring you food and drinks.

Long Boat Key Club and Resort

Don’t want to stay out at the beach, stay in town instead. Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota is conveniently located near the city center overlooking Sarasota Bay, just minutes from premier arts venues, nature sanctuaries, distinctive shopping, fishing, watersports, and more – something to entertain each member of the family to enjoy their Spring vacation. This destination resort offers four restaurants featuring local cuisine, a full-service spa, Ritz Kids® recreational programs, and an 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course. Golfers can also make it a family affair with The Ritz Kids Play & Learn Program, which provides kids with complimentary rentals and lessons with a playing adult.
