You want your children to have a good time, but you also don’t want to sacrifice flavor. If you are looking for the best places to eat with kids in Louisville, then look no further! From pizza joints to ice cream parlors, here is our list of the top restaurants the whole family will enjoy.

Bite Into the Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Louisville

Wild Eggs

Wild Eggs Louisville KentuckyWild Eggs is a breakfast place with quite a few locations around Louisville including downtown. My nieces love this place so much that it’s our #1. They have coloring sheets for kids and a solid kid’s menu. The regular menu is even better. Get a massive cinnamon roll for the table to share.

Dave and Busters

Louisville Dave and Busters

Dave and Busters is always a great place to dine with kids. We order, then go play games while waiting for the food. Then eat and play some more! With the variety of games available, kids will stay happy and entertained for hours. I ordered a plate full of veggies and it was phenomenal. Located at 5000 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40207.

Mirage MediterraneanMirage Mediterranean

Kids love bread and kids love hummus which means they will actually eat well. The portions are large and easily sharable. Not sure what to get your kids? Get the kabobs. Located at 4100 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY 40213.

Big Bad BreakfastBig Bad Breakfast in Louisville

I personally felt that this was the best breakfast in Louisville. I liked it so much that I bought their cookbook! They let you get on the waitlist before you arrive and I highly recommend doing this. This place is so popular you will still have to wait, but it will lessen the wait. Eden and I split the huevos rancheros grit bowl and it was so freaking good. Located at 984 Barret Ave, Louisville, KY 40204.

Bearno’s By the BridgeBearno's By the Bridge

Bearno’s pizza is a fantastic pizza place downtown and they have coloring sheets for kids. We only ordered one pizza for three adults and two kids and it was more than enough food for us. Their large pizzas are absolutely massive. Located at 131 W Main St, Louisville, KY 40202 within walking distance from the children’s museum.

The EagleThe Eagle in Louisville

That dip…..the blue cheese dip alone is worth venturing over to The Eagle. Our server was absolutely awful but the food was so good I am still going to recommend it. Just know that you may get crap service. Located at 1314 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40204.

The Comfy CowThe Comfy Cow

This popular ice cream parlor serves up some of the best homemade ice cream around. With over 40 flavors always available, including vegan options and seasonal specialties, The Comfy Cow is sure to have something that everyone in your family will love. Kids will love watching their custom creations come together right before their eyes—plus there’s nothing quite like getting a scoop of yummy ice cream on a hot day! They have three locations in Louisville.

Just across the river in Indiana are two restaurants worth venturing over to Union Restaurant and GameYard and Upland Brewing if you happen to be staying downtown.

Whether you’re looking for something savory or sweet (or both), these restaurants are sure to make your next family outing a success! From pizza pies and ice cream scoops to New Orleans inspired breakfasts, there really is something for everyone at these kid-friendly spots in Louisville! So next time you are wondering where to take the family out for dinner (or dessert!), head over to one of our top picks above—you won’t be disappointed!

Chaney’s Dairy FarmChaney’s Dairy Farm in Bowling Green

Chaney’s Dairy Farm is one of the most fun things to do in Bowling Green with kids. On-site is a cafe with great food, including ice cream made from the cows that call this farm home. Families can take an educational tour where they show off the Laley Astronaut robotic milking system. Chances are high no one in your family has seen a cow milked robotically, right?

The farm has a massive jumping pillow, kids can bounce on for an extra fee. The playground is free and they show free movies every other Friday on the side of their barn.

Mammoth Cave is the world’s longest cave and it has yet to be fully explored.  It covers 405 miles and is so large that some of the cave is not included in the national park. There are people currently searching for more parts of the cave! But it isn’t just people down there,  160 species of animals go into the cave.

In 1816, visitors started touring the limestone cave making it one of the oldest attractions in the United States. By 1920, George Morrison discovered that there were more caves, so he created a new entrance in 1921, ultimately selling it to the park service in 1932.

The “Frozen Niagara” is the most photographed part of the cave and this tour is kid-friendly.

Lost River CaveLost River Cave

Lost River Cave offers underground cave tours by boat. (Unfortunately, be aware if it has been raining a lot the water levels get too high and the boats can not operate in the cave.) The walk down to the cave is extremely scenic, crossing over a gorgeous wooden bridge and passing by natural blue holes.

Near the gift shop and the parking lot is a natural playground for kids. There is a trading post for children as well every other Saturday from April to October. Here children can trade items like a leaf, acorn, or snakeskin for a new item. Kids have to tell the worker about their item before they trade it in. Participating in the trading post is completely free.

Year-Round Activities At Lost River Cave

Lost River Cave offers all kinds of year-round family activities. In the summer they participate in the Great American Camp Out and families can join in for just $25. They also offer camps throughout the summer on Saturdays including a stem camp. Compete in their 5K, the Snow Flurry Scurry in January each year.  While during the fall, local businesses decorate scarecrows for the Scarecrow Trail. December features kid-fun activities including a reindeer encounter, meeting with Sant and Mrs. Clause, and sipping hot chocolate.

Lost River Cave has plans to add zip lining by the end of 2017 with three segments and kiddie zips.

Fun Fact: Reportedly, Jesse James and his gang hid out in this cave in 1868 after robbing a bank!

The water park has a lazy river, a wave pool, and lots of slides.

Where to Stay In Bowling Green, Kentucky With KidsFairfield Inn in Bowling Green, Kentucky

In Bowling Green, I stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites. A family of four could easily stay in one of their rooms with its king-size bed and sofa / hide-a-bed. During the tour, they took us behind the scenes and into the storage room and of course we found more Corvettes! Here are some photos of what we saw!img 0316img 0314 1img 0312img 0311

The Corvette Sinkhole

They also took us into the room where they are restoring one of the cars that fell in the sinkhole. It is so sad to see all of those cars destroyed. I am glad they have been able to fix a few of them. This will be the third one they have restored. img 0310 1

This is the room that had the sinkhole the Corvettes fell into. The remains of them are on display. Many of them are not salvageable. Notice on the floor, they have outlined where the sinkhole was. img 0318To see even more of the sinkhole check out the Facebook Live video I took while touring the room.
