Over the years the wine scene just outside of Portland in the Willamette Valley has exploded. With so many wineries popping all the time there are more than enough to visit. If you happen to be traveling with kids we’ve put together the best kid-friendly wineries in the Willamette Valley because we all know, mama deserves a drink.

Brooks Winery

Brooks Winery

Brooks Winery has darts, corn hole and chickens. All of which will help kids stay entertained. They will provide food for the chickens so your kids can feed them. Visit on a pizza night and plan to have dinner on their covered patio. 

Brooks Winery in Oregon

Wines to try: Any of their Reisling, it’s their specialty.

Located at 21101 SE Cherry Blossom Ln, Amity, OR 97101. 

Hours: Daily 11 AM – 5 PM. 

Anne Amie Winery

Anne Amie Winery has a lot going on. Kids will appreciate plenty of room to run and corn hole. They have a bunch of hammocks set up for patrons to lounge on and a massive patio to enjoy the views on a nice day. 

They charge $15 for a flight. 

Located at 6580 NE Mineral Springs Rd, Carlton, OR 97111.

Hours Vary: 

• January–February: Thurs-Mon tastings are available from 10 am to 5 pm, Tues-Wed by advanced appointment
• March–December: Daily tastings are available from 10 am to 5 pm

Duck Pond Cellars

Duck Pond Cellars gives the kids fish food to feed the fish in the koi pond. There’s lots of room for kids to run around and plenty of tables where you can sit and play games. On the weekends they set out a corn hole set and they allow picnicking with outside food. Dogs are allowed outside too. They often have live music. Check their website for the music schedule.

• ‘Coles Valley Vineyard’ Pinot Noir

Hours: Sunday – Saturday 11 AM – 5 PM

Stroller Family Estate

There’s a ton of room for kids to run, a tire swing in a tree, corn hole, giant Jenga, and ladder toss. They even have a frisbee golf course!

Located at 16161 NE McDougall Rd, Dayton, OR 97114.

Open every day from 11 AM – 5 PM. 

Argyle Tasting House

Kids will enjoy hanging out under the outside awning or playing bocce ball. They also have corn hole and hobo golf out on the lawn. They have a lot of tables to play games on, so bring a card game. They allow picnics outside, so feel free to bring food. 

They charge $20 for a flight of four wines and have no food available.

Wines to try:

• One of their Pinot Noirs. I found their Pinot Noir to be much better than their other wines.  

Durant Winery at Red Ridge Farms

Durant Winery has a garden you can walk through, a large lawn that can be played in and a hike that can be taken through the property. They also produce olive oil. 

Flights cost $15. 

Located at 5430 NE Breyman Orchards Rd, Dayton, OR 97114.

Hours: Daily from 10 am to 5 pm.

Trisaetum Winery 

Part art gallery, part tasting room.

They offer four flights daily, each with five wines; A sparkling wine flight, a whites-only flight, a reds only flight, and a blended flight.

Tasting fee: $20 per person and the fee is waived with a purchase of a bottle per taster.

Alit Wine Room

Alit Wine Room is an interesting space. They’ve got corn hole, a grassy area, and sometimes food trucks.

Hours: Open seven days a week from 11 AM – 7 PM. 

Abbey Road Farm

Abbey Road Farm is a unique destination with a luxurious converted silo bed & breakfast inn, and beautifully crafted winery, tasting room, and events venue located on an 82-acre working farm and vineyard. The Abbey Road Farm Winery Collective and Tasting Room features flights and pours made on location under the Abbey Road Farm label and produced by resident winemakers James Rahn Wine Co. and Statera Cellars/Lares Wines, and current incubator wineries EST. Wines, Human Cellars, and Fruit Day Inc. Outside features covered pergolas and picnic tables.

Fox Farm Vineyards

Fox Farm Vineyards has a large outdoor courtyard with picnic tables and a small covered patio with outdoor seating!

Tips for Visiting Wineries with Kids

If you drag your kids to a bunch of wineries with nothing for the kids to do, they are going to be completely miserable, which means you too are going to have an awful time. 

Bring a Frisbee.

Bring a small game to play:

• GOtrio is a travel size version of Otrio. Otrio is a new level of tic tac toe. 
• On the Dot game has over 60 brain teaser puzzles to solve and can be played by one to four people. This is a more challenging game and better for teens and tweens. It is considered a STEM activity. 
• Ivan’s Hinge is another puzzle game and is for solo players. Your kid will fold, loop, bend, twist, and turn to find a solution! The patterned challenge cards invite curiosity, logic, determination. My eleven-year-old son will spend hours doing this.
• Spot It is a matching game that can be played with one to eight players. You have to find the a matching symbol between two random cards. This is a STEM activity that develops focus, visual perception skills, speech-language skills, and fine motor skills. The kids and I have a lot of fun playing this game.
