Steamboat Inn is one of our favorite places to stay in all of Oregon. Located along the Umpqua River on Hwy 138 just 38 miles east of Roseburg in a stunning forest setting. Known as a “bucket list destination” Steamboat is a prime destination for world-class fly-fishing, hikes, kayaking, rafting, waterfall chasing, and simply connecting with nature. Steamboat Inn is located approximately 2 hours from Eugene, Bend, and Medford.

Diverse Accommodations

Suites are perfect for a romantic getaway or an extended stay featuring a complimentary bottle of wine, functional fireplaces, kitchenettes as well as private balconies and soaking tubs overlooking the river. Guests can relax in rustic luxury overlooking the Umpqua River.

River View Cabins feature a King bed and also offer a scenic river view with a shared balcony overlooking the Umpqua River. A gas fireplace keeps guests warm in the winter, and a breeze from the river keeps cabins cool during the summer.

The Hideaway Cottages can accommodate up to four guests, feature a kitchenette with mini fridge and two burner stove, and offer a large bath with tiled soaking tub.

Campwater Houses are great for large groups or families, up to six guests. The three bedroom 1.5 bath houses have private yards with outdoor seating, full kitchens, outdoor gas grill, washer and dryer, and a wood stove.The Mott Trail runs below the houses and just past that is the famous Campwater section of the North Umpqua.

Pets are welcome in the Hideaway Cottages and Campwater Houses only.

Fantastic Restaurant

The Steamboat Inn Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to both guests of the hotel and visitors for dine in, dine outdoors, in your room and to go. Packed with seasonal ingredients sourced from across the Pacific Northwest, the restaurant prepares fresh, hand-crafted fare infused with traditions from the property’s 60 year history.

Breakfast and lunch feature hearty and traditional dishes such as scratch-made biscuits and gravy, house-brined corned beef hash, and “Grandma’s Bread” fresh made daily. Current seasonal specials include a Spaetzle Hash, Smoked Steelhead Omelet and Beet Spinach Salad.

Seating is available both indoors and outdoors. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling 541-498-2230 or via Tock.

Coffee for the restaurant, rooms, and espresso program are sourced from local Takelma Roasting, owned and operated by the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians in Roseburg.

Whether fly-fishing, hiking throughout the extensive trail systems, making a day trip to nearby Crater Lake, or unwinding on the balcony overlooking the Umpqua River, Steamboat offers a multitude of ways to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Crater Lake National Park, only a 90 minute drive away along a scenic byway, makes for a fun getaway with ample adventure opportunities.

Hike Nearby Waterfalls

Spring is the best time to visit and explore the stunning waterfalls nearby. When the forest is awash with spring flowers. Steamboat Inn rhododendrons in full bloom from May through June.

Toketee Falls – off Highway 138, this is one of Oregon’s most famous waterfalls renowned for its columnar basalt formation framing the two-stepped falls. Toketee Falls drops 113 feet, which includes a 28-foot upper-tier plunging into a pool flanked by a deep alcove, and then an 85-foot plunge into a large pool.
Clearwater Falls – Off Highway 138. Unlike most waterfalls, this one appears to be springing out from beneath the green, moss-covered rocks and thousands of intertwined tree roots. On Clearwater Creek
Fall Creek Falls – off Highway 138, the Falls Creek Falls Trail features two waterfalls. The first is an 80-foot drop, and 100 feet downstream is the lower 40-foot falls.
Whitehorse Falls – 40 miles from Union Creek off Highway 138. Also on Clearwater Creek, Whitehorse Falls comes out of a narrow trough and tumbles 14 feet over a wall into a large pool down below.
Watson Falls – Off Highway 138 is the third highest waterfall in Oregon, Watson Falls. It is a majestic sight with water cascading 272 feet over basalt lava cliffs – and you can walk under the falls. Located in the Umpqua National Forest, 47 miles from Union Creek, the trail is an easy .6 miles.
